La Higuera

There is a fig tree at the center of this property that has been here longer than the house itself. The home was named for it — higuera — and something of the tree's character has worked its way into the walls: unhurried, rooted, indifferent to anything that isn't the slow passage of light and the sound of the Pacific nearby. Troncones is that kind of place. One of the few stretches of Guerrero coastline to have resisted the pull of mass tourism, it remains a surf village in the truest sense — a handful of excellent restaurants, world-class breaks at Playa Manzanillo minutes away, and very little else demanding your attention.

The house is designed for two couples or a small group of four who want to slow down properly. Interiors draw from the natural palette of the surrounding jungle and coast — raw textures, considered details, quality linens — while the open living and dining areas dissolve toward the sea breeze. Both bedrooms are air-conditioned; the rooftop pool is not, which is exactly how it should be. For the non-surfer, the days here have a pleasing sameness: swim, read, eat well, repeat.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo sits 30 minutes south, close enough to reach when needed and far enough to forget about entirely.
