House in Santa Elena Tule

Along the Oaxacan coastline, where surf, whale watching, and pods of dolphins set the rhythm of daily life, this house sits just above ocean level — surrounded by mangroves and indigenous coastal landscape, blending quietly into the nature around it.

The home is the work of Meyer Davis, the acclaimed New York-based studio known for designing spaces that feel at once refined and deeply rooted in their context. Here, that sensibility takes the form of a double-height palapa at the heart of the house, connecting the open living area, dining room, and bar to the guest rooms and primary suites. Every room looks out to the ocean, each with its own ensuite bathroom.

Interiors are carefully curated to honor Oaxacan and Mexican craftsmanship — handmade details, locally sourced materials, and custom breeze blocks that draw in the coastal air naturally. The volcanic stone dining table, designed specifically for the space, seats up to fourteen and is the kind of table that makes long meals feel inevitable.
Outside, a private infinity pool and a direct walkway to the beach complete the picture.
