Perched on the cliffs overlooking the bohemian beach enclave of Mazunte, Casa Cuachalala combines modern minimalism with Oaxacan simplicity. The panoramic ocean views from the sprawling platform terraces make the most of the 4-bedroom property’s cliffside aspect, creating an elegant interplay between inside and out.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Casa Cuachalala’s architects have infused the region's natural beauty with clean, modern interior design. Warm stone and Parota wood elegantly marry together the property’s rooms and terraces, each intriguingly accented with original Oaxacan artifacts and art.
Our favorite part of the house is the pool area. The infinity pool seems to almost connect with the view out onto the Pacific, and at night, the stunning colors of the Oaxacan sunset reflect in the water.
Casa Cuachalala sleeps up to 12 people. The master suite has a king-sized bed with a pull-out sofa for children and a private terrace opening out onto spectacular ocean views. There is a further bedroom with a king-size bed, another room with two doubles, and a twin room with terrace access. Each of the rooms is air-conditioned.
The villa's open-concept living areas include two fully equipped kitchens and dining areas, while the back terrace features a grill and wood oven that’s perfect for outdoor dining among the lush vegetation. Beyond the home itself, guests will have access to a dedicated team included in the rental rate, including a chef to prepare breakfast and lunch and a maid and butler on hand from 8 am to 4 pm. Dinner service is also available for an extra cost.
Casa Cuachalala offers both seclusion and access to a thriving beach community. Mazunte is renowned for its laid-back atmosphere, yoga studios, eco-friendly shops, and casual culinary scene. You can stroll along the beach, explore the local shops and stalls, or simply unwind in the villa's private sanctuary.
To reach Casa Cuachalala, fly into Huatulco International Airport (HUX) or Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM). Both have connections from major Mexican airports, with HUX also having direct flights from Chicago, Dallas, and (unusually) several hubs in Canada. When you arrive, take a scenic one-hour drive along the coast in a hired car or taxi. Take note that there aren’t any banks in Mazunte, and it’s quite common for the ATM to be out of order. Come prepared with cash.
