Casa Entremuros was designed by Mariano Aguirre, the founding architect of Mexico City-based MAAD Arquitectura. Situated on a secluded stretch of beach half an hour south of Puerto Escondido, the property offers some of the most spectacular views in the collection. This is thanks to Casa Entremuros' ingenious design, which allows the entire ocean-facing portion of the structure to open onto the ocean.

The Design

Of the vast 1,200 square meter plot, 20 square meters face directly onto the beach. During the design process, Aguirre prioritized the home’s orientation toward the sunset, arranging the architecture around five 7.5-meter concrete axes. These towering concrete walls divide the living spaces, leaving the vista towards the ocean almost entirely open.

The sweeping pool and terrace area are sunken seamlessly into the land approaching the white sand, while the sculptural fire pit creates the perfect intimate hideaway for sundowners. Another elegant finishing touch is the petrified tree trunk that serves as a coffee table in the living space that connects to the terrace.

The interior of the home is filled with more carefully chosen design pieces. We love the free-standing jet-black bathtubs that act as the centerpiece of each oceanview ensuite. With dramatic views of the Pacific, you’re unlikely to find a more dramatic setting for a bubble bath.

The Space

Casa Entremuros comfortably accommodates up to 16 guests in its 4 ocean view and 2 pool view suites. Each oceanview suite features a king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, and a dressing room, while the poolview suites have 2 queen beds each, ensuite bathrooms, and dressing rooms. The villa's expansive grounds feature an 18-meter pool, a sun-drenched deck, a fire pit, an open living area, 2 dining areas, and a spacious open-plan kitchen.

Your reservation includes a dedicated staff from 9 am to 5 pm, consisting of a chef, cleaning personnel, and a waiter. They will handle grocery shopping, prepare three delicious meals daily from a Mexican-inspired menu with many options, provide snacks and drinks, and attend to every detail of your stay. Additionally, Starlink Internet is available in the common areas, and the bedrooms are air-conditioned.

The Neighborhood

Casa Entremuros is located on a pristine stretch of beach south of Puerto Escondido. There are only a few other properties and one high-end hotel restaurant in its immediate vicinity; this is a place to relax, turn off, and tune out.

However, if guests want to venture further afield, Puerto Escondido is half an hour along the Carretera Costera. Puerto Escondido itself is a bustling surf town with a variety of bars, restaurants, and venues. We love Sommo, which serves exquisite sashimi and cocktails. Or, for a chic take on rustic favorites, we recommend the tamales at Terraza Molli. You can take a local taxi, or we can arrange car hire.

When you arrive, you’ll fly into Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM), which is connected to all major Mexican hubs and Los Angeles (LAX). The property is 30 minutes from the airport in a taxi or private shuttle.
